My experience with clients who are solopreneurs and small business owners without a marketing person on staff is this: they have a lot of questions and appreciate a lot of guidance. 

In addition to requiring creative and implementation services, they have other business and marketing issues that come up that require discussion. Sometimes they need direction and consultation. Other times they need to bounce ideas off someone who knows.
